Zek split his attention between the hallway and Bob’s progress with the door. He was slightly amused with the fish’s tactics, but couldn’t see how the saved severed Borg appendage was going to be of use in the future. “Be ready, if this works we won’t have the element of surprise for long.” Bob added when he was finished. Zek looked to Bear for the plan, he indicated that the basic search and destroy method with hand signals, Zek nodded his understanding; he knew his job, charge in and eliminate any threats, and secure the area. On the count of three, Bob hit the release, and the majority of the group charged in.
They were immediately faced with over a dozen drones, they were everywhere, the plus was that they seemed momentarily stunned, but then again so was the Away team. Sam growled out a very Bearish order that was cut short “Beaks, 4 O’clock! Focus…” But, before Sam or Zek could fire their weapons, Doctor Jackson screamed for help; immediately distracting them both further in a very bad situation. Zek didn’t have time to turn to help Sam, as his face plate shattered and a fist came hurtling at his face, the fist was led by assimilation tubules, and Zek was very glad that he had a beak as they were deflected, but no amount of armor was going to stop the punch that was coming behind them. Zek was thrown back with the power of the punch; lights popped in front of his eyes, Zek shook his head in an attempt to rid himself of them. The drone or drones now, were on him in an instant, he fired his rifle to no affect, they had adapted.
Zek jumped to his feet as the drones lunged at him, they both had melee weapons, Zek was too busy avoiding to blades to recognize the design, and he was flying through the air again before he realized that one of the drones kicked him hard in the chest. His EV suit was shredded; he finished its destruction as he ripped the hindering thing off, exposing his own assortment of weapons. Zek ducked a flying table and launched a counter attack at the drones, feet first he sunk his 8in talons into ones chest, the other caught his leg before it reached its target, and crushing his metatarsus, thankfully his adrenalin, kept him from feeling anything at the moment. He used its moment of diversion and slashed it across its throat. Both drones hit the floor bleeding profusely, Zek meant to move onto his next target, but collapsed onto the floor with a shout of pain, his leg unable to support his weight, as he hit the floor he saw Sam flung over his head and into a consol across the room. Zek wanted to help Sam, but there was another drone closing on him, going for the easy kill.
Zek drew himself up, hobbling awkwardly on one leg, he grabbed a surgical saw off a cart, activated it, and threw it in the drones face. Zek covered his face from the spray, but was forced to the floor once again from the retreating drones suppressive fire. “Chief, see if this place as a self destruct or find me some way to blow it up! Kael, see if you can download the data banks so we can see the details and have our evidence.” Zek looked over to Sam as he spoke, the man was in bad shape, and Dr. Jackson was already moving to his side. Zek got up slowly and assessed his wounds, which he was just starting to feel, he felt his face, his beak was cracked, his lower right leg was obviously broken, and he looked down to his aching abdomen, blood was seeping from a slash across it, he placed his hands over it to try and stem the flow. Zek slowly made his way over to Sam “Beaks… A little help, if it’s not to much bother…” Zek tried to chuckle at Bear, then thought better of it. “I think you need to sit there and let Dr. Jackson or Nurse Khrys take a look at you.” Zek almost lost his balance as spots danced in front of his eyes again when he moved his jaw to speak. “I think I should sit” Zek sat, or fell rather, next to Sam, and leaned against the wall, breathing hard and trying hard not to shout in pain, he hoped that the kick to his chest didn’t re-injure his earlier chest injury.

Sabal was through the door soon after Colonel Grant and Capt. Zek’dyn, she spotted what she was looking for in the corner of the room, two drones who had their eyes closed in tight concentration. One was a Reman, and the other looked human, but more than likely it was Betaziod, they would more than likely be the ones responsible for her lack of Psionic abilities. She had ruled out the notion that they had technology to block telepathy, if the Borg had it, Species 8472 would know about it, so she narrowed it down to a new adapted ability, either from just these ‘special’ drones or collective wide. She was going to pass this new information on to her superiors once she got out of this hellhole.
Sabal made a beeline for those two drones, slicing, and destroying any other drones in her path; she didn’t stop for the multiple burns and jolts she was receiving from incoming fire, she didn’t even care if it was coming from friend or foe, she was focused on getting her basic defenses back up.
She went for the one in front, the Betaziod, she grabbed it by its throat and lifted it high enough and fast enough to break the connection between the two drones, and break its skull against the ceiling. The rush of her Psyonic abilities return was overwhelming, the world was too quiet for too long, the rush of thoughts and emotions brought Sabal to her knees, the drone took its advantage and slammed a metal conduit into her shoulder, she didn’t know where he got it, and didn’t really feel the impact in her stupor, but she did her the resonating crunch of her right shoulder shattering, she was able minded enough to get a good slash in on the Reman with her good arm, the drone fell back convulsing in pain from the enzymes on her claws.
Sabal looked up from the position on her knees, just in time to catch a bio bed in the face, he impact made a revolting crunching sound somewhere in her head, sent her flying backwards, and slammed her against the wall; she crumpled to the floor, buried under the bed.
Sabal lay there for a bit, trying to adjust her telepathy to its normal state, ‘reconnecting’ herself with her communicator, Felyn, and her family. Still dazed, she used her good arm to move the bed, and assess the situation around the room, seems she missed the excitement, the drones had retreated. The others were a little worse for wear, Colonel Grant looked over at her, “You okay Sabal?” Sabal scowled at him, “Better then you I think,” her shoulder was shattered, she had several phaser burns, blood was pouring down her face from her head wound and the crunching sound it made when the table hit it couldn’t have been good, and from the pain in her right knee, it seemed she had dislocated the damn thing again. She was just peachy.

Bob waited for Colonel Grant to hand out non-verbal orders, rubbing at a pain in his chest; he must have pulled something, he had been to busy to really pay attention to his exhaustion, but it was catching up to him, he was lightheaded and a little nauseous from lack of a proper meal and stress of the past few days. His suit was pinching something in his left arm, because it was starting to go numb.
Bob was given the go-ahead to open the door, he let the others go ahead of him and he went in after Sabal, he wasn’t much of a fighter, he preferred to hide in a situation like this one, but the scream of Dr. Jackson compelled him to do what he could to win the fight, and hopefully keep her out of harm in the process. He may not like doctors but Tribal Law required him to do everything in his power to save females, even at the expense of his life. There were drones everywhere; the Colonel had gone after the one by Dr. Jackson, Capt. Zek had his own problems, and Sabal was rampaging through the room like a bull after a matador. Bob took to the walls, then the ceiling, tried his phaser to no affect, he needed something long. Bob opened a ceiling panel and used his phaser to cut out some piping, he pointed the sharpest end and started using it as a rudimentary pike, and spearing any drone head that came close enough to impale, they didn’t even know it was coming.
The battle was over shortly with the drones in retreat; Bob made his way to the floor breathing heavy, rubbing at the tightness and pain in his chest, and trying to shake feeling back into his arm, the battle did nothing to help either. It looked as if he made it the best out of the battle; all three that went before him were beaten up pretty badly. The Colonel spoke up “Chief, see if this place as a self destruct or find me some way to blow it up! Kael, see if you can download the data banks so we can see the details and have our evidence.” Bob nodded and looked over to Dr. Jackson as she clears her throat. Bob realized what he was doing and stopped rubbing his chest, “I’m fine, not even a scratch, just a pulled muscle…” he added with a nervous smile, “Um, the main console they all used is over there…” She pointed out. “Oh, right.” Bob walked over to the consol she indicated mainly to get out of the way of her medical devices. Everything on the consol was encrypted, “This might take a few moments.” he busted out his scanner, and started working out decrypting everything and setting the self destruct. “Ten minutes on the self destruct good?” he asked, more to Dr. Jackson then the Colonel, she would have a better time table of when they could move with all the injuries they had.

Khrys thanked Col. Grant with a nod of her head at his congratulations, and listened intently to his explanation of why they were there. The problems with this place were more then she could have believed, and if they needed to get into the secured room then Khrys would do her best to help them accomplish that goal.
“Alright people listen up, we need to get into that door, one way or the other, and figure out just what is going on here so we know what we need to do next.” He turned back to the group “Khrys, ‘Maggie’, Kael; you three stay here and give covering fire and wait for the call incase anyone gets hurt. Zek, Sabal and myself, will charge the door and try and take out the 6 drones that are guarding the entrance, Bob and Lt. Taylor will come behind us, giving us cover fire as well and will try and gain access to do the door. Should we take the door position, my team will guard the Chief and Lt. Taylor as the do their work. Question?”
Khrys looked to the others, they said nothing, “I know what I have to do sir.” She stayed behind the main attack group, covering the hallway with Maggie and Kael. As the strike team moved up and breached the door, her team covered the intersection, moving closer to the security room, but still keeping a distance. Khrys was never good in a fight, she knew which end of the phaser to hold, but that was about it. She would take a hypospray over a phaser any day.
When the battle shouts waned Khrys signaled the other two to watch her back while she went and assessed injuries. She went into the room to find a gory mess, there was also an addition to their number, and even though her uniform was tattered, Khrys could tell she was a CRV doctor. Khrys’s nursing instinct took over, she walked over to the Doctor and kneeled next to her, busted open the med kit and handed her a medical tricorder, “I’m a nurse. Just let me know what you need.” Khrys started loading a hypospray with hydrocortilene; it was looking like these people were going to need it, she sat it on the edge of the med kit, ready for when the doctor needed it. Khrys knew they were pressed for time, so she wanted to help the Doctor get the patients stable enough to get out of here quickly.

Sabina takes stock of the situation, assessing her own condition first. She could move all her limbs and didn't seem to be bleeding profusely, so she could treat others. She looks at those who aren't standing- namely the Colonel and Zek. Zek is bleeding a lot, so she determines that he's the worst. The Colonel was a close second.
Bob seemed to be a bit unsteady, but he was standing and appeared to be uninjured, so she couldn't worry about him just yet. He asks how long to set the destruct for. "Well, it depends on how far away wherever the escape is. We're not going very far very quickly. Unless you can find a transporter control- then we've got plenty of time."
She's startled slightly by Khrys, but is very relieved to have help.
"Oh thank goodness, I'm glad you're here. Please help the Colonel. That looks like a nasty broken leg, but it would be best to try to splint it for now unless we've got time for surgery. I need to stop Zek's bleeding."
She's good at compartmentalizing- and is able to focus now when faced with a medical crisis. She pushes up her tattered sleeves and grabs the medkit. She finds a tricorder and an auto-suture and begins to knit up Zek's chest. "You're lucky you didn't aggravate your earlier wounds."

As he sat on the floor, he saw his friend walk over towards him “I think you need to sit there and let Dr. Jackson or Nurse Khrys take a look at you.” he noticed Zek almost lost his balance, and seemed a little uneasy on his feet. “I think I should sit.” He was concerned the way that Zek crumpled to the ground, and gathered he was hurt pretty bad too. He reached over with his free hand and patted Zek on the shoulder “Not a bad dance; but I think we’ll sit the next one out…” he still tried to smile, but he was still hurting all over.
It was then that Doctor Jackson got up and over to him. He noticed she looked in pretty poor shape, her lips were shaking and she seemed to be trying very hard not to break down, but he could tell she was having a hard time with it. “I’m so sorry… I can’t believe I believed that horrible thing… and helped him.” Samuel quirked a bit of a smirk, and raised an eyebrow “Doctor Jackson, I don’t recall inviting you on this little field trip…” finally forcing that smile through all the pain, if anyone needed it, she did “but I’m glad you decided to join us. I find that I might just be in need your services…” He wanted to distract her current concerns, so his light hearted humor suffered; with great effort. He wasn’t quiet sure what she meant, but there’d be time for debriefings later, now, he just wanted everybody to get out of here and make this entire place a crater.
He heard Bob ask about how much time they needed, and he could tell he was asking Sabina, not him. "Well, it depends on how far away wherever the escape is. We're not going very far very quickly. Unless you can find a transporter control- then we've got plenty of time." Samuel smiled, “You give me and Zek a good enough pain killer, we’ll race you up the lift.” He wasn’t sure how true that was, but him and Beaks had been in a few tough scraps before, and they’d always gone above and beyond.
He noticed as Khrys came over with the medical tri-corder, and knowing enough about medicine to have a damn good idea bout his injuries, he waived her off and closed the tri-corder. “You know that we don’t have time for you to mend by broken bones, nor my pride…” he leaned hard to one side, and straightened himself up a bit “so please, don’t bother. I need a shot of the strongest pain killer you got, and we can use what’s left of that broken phaser rifle to make a splint for the leg; but unless we get back aboard The Cold Harbor, there’s not much you can do for me.” Which was a true enough fact, it wasn’t that difficult to mend broken bones, most of the medical procedures were pretty simple, but the procedures took time, which was obviously something they didn’t have.
There was another problem as well, the broken leg was his ‘augmetic leg’, and he didn’t want anyone knowing about it at that particular time, and although Doctor Jackson would have known, he didn’t want Khrys, or worse Sabal, to know. The problem was even worse, but Samuel wasn’t in the most aware state to think about it. The virus that plagued him was marginally ‘purged’ each time the blood was cycled through his body, which is why this procedure was actually considered a cure, but it would take around 5 years to purge it completely. The current problem was that with the leg broken and the augmetics damaged, the virus was no longer ‘purifying itself’ and was slowly beginning to run rampant. Unlike the original virus that would have killed Samuel in only a few minutes, it would work much slower as it was still trying to go through the damage leg; but if it didn’t get fixed soon, the fact that his secret would have gotten out wouldn’t be his problem anymore.
Seeing Doctor Jackson working on Beaks, he took a deep breath, after Khrys had helped him, and with a grunt picked himself up off the floor; his full weight supported on his good right leg. His shoulder, nose and leg were throbbing, but the medication was helping a lot. Through gritted teeth, he looked down at his best friend “Come on Captain, that’s enough down time flirting with the Good Doctor; on your feet like a good Officer.” He was ribbing his friend, both trying to lighten the mood and remind them both that they had to put on a good face for the rest of the crew, and picking on the fact that Zek’dyn was known for his ‘ways’ with the opposite gender, and figured he’d get a charge out of his old friend.
“Okay, Chief, what’s the plan to get off this rock?” he smiled, and realized that he could stand the way he was, but he was gonna need to lean on someone to walk.

Like they had something to prove by gritting their teeth through the pain, “If that is what you wish” With a quick look to the Doctor for approval, Khrys got to work medicating him and then fashioning the crude splint. “Alright there you go, see if it is sufficient.” and with a grunt hr picked himself up off the floor; his full weight supported on his good right leg.
With some effort Khrys picked herself off the floor, one of her little ones gave her a kick to the ribs, reminding her to take it easy. She couldn’t wait to get off this rock be reunited with her husband and wife, making their family whole once again, they must be worried sick. Khrys placed a soothing hand on her abdomen in an attempt to calm the little ones and moved over to the Species 8472, who also looked a little beaten up. Her scanner came up with nothing, seems it couldn’t scan her; Khrys shot Sabal a quizzical look.

Sabal was still having problems reining in her telepathic abilities and wasn’t paying much attention to her surroundings. She was catching snippets of what everyone was thinking, and knew that it was against the agreement that her government and Starfleet made. She closet her eyes in concentration, but was jarred by someone’s thoughts, it was the Edosian, she was coming over to scan Sabal’s injuries, but her mind wasn’t on that at the moment, she was thinking of her family and the young she was carrying. As Khrys attempted to scan her, Sabal heard the unspoken question “That wont work, your scanners and transporters have a hard time penetrating my biogenic field. My injuries will heal themselves; an Analgesic would be appreciated though.” While the nurse went about her business, Sabal wretched her knee back into it joint once again with a sickening crunch, a wave of pain shot up and down her leg. Hopefully that would be the last time she had to do that today.
Sabal heard the Colonel ask Bob what the plan was for getting out of here; she realized then that there would be a problem with the plan forming in his head. And before he could relay his plan Sabal mentioned the problem with it “Felyn is gone, you will not be able to return to The Cold Harbor the same way you got down here.” Unasked questions made their way into her mind, why? What happened? Who? She addressed each of the owners of those thoughts as if they spoke aloud. To Khrys “Felyn is my Bio-ship” To Zek and Bob “She felt our connection sever and thought I was dead, so she fled back to Fluidic Space, she is only a child and spooks easy.” Sabal got up and tested her leg, it was supporting her weight, her shoulder and face tingled unpleasantly as her body started repairing the broken bones. She looked over to Nick and Khrys “How did you guys get down here, shuttle? Is it still here?”

Dr. Jackson answered his question "Well, it depends on how far away wherever the escape is. We're not going very far very quickly. Unless you can find a transporter control- then we've got plenty of time." Bob frowned; he didn’t remember seeing a transporter room when he reviewed schematics, he had always figured that they would go back the way they came. Before he suggested it though Sabal answered him as if he’s spoken what was on his mind. “Felyn is gone; you will not be able to return to The Cold Harbor the same way you got down here.” Bob wondered what the hell happened, but was answered again before he could say something. “She felt our connection sever and thought I was dead, so she fled back to Fluidic Space, she is only a child and spooks easy.” Bob frowned “Ok, you need to get out of my head… Please” He added, he was speaking to a woman after all, but he had enough problems without having to worry about censoring what he was thinking. He pulled out his tricorder and brought up the schematics to the outpost. “Transporter room...” he mumbled to himself while he searched. “How did you guys get down here, shuttle? Is it still here?” Bob looked at Sabal when she asked, not a bad idea, or at least a plan B. if there was no transporter room, or there was something wrong with it. Bob looked back and forth from Nick to Khrys, waiting for their answer.

“Doctor Jackson, I don’t recall inviting you on this little field trip…” “but I’m glad you decided to join us. I find that I might just be in need your services…”
She looks at him confused as she hands the nurse a hypo full of painkillers. "You didn't invite me, sir... they captured me. I owe you."
She patches up Zek's wound as quickly as she could. She'd still want to check it later, along with fixing his leg. She gives him some pain meds, too. She uses some pieces of the biobed and splints his leg tight for now, since she couldn't seem to find the proper regenerator in the med kit. Stuff must have gotten lost during the confusion and battle. "Alright, Zek, you should be good to go for now."
She sees that the nurse was fixing up the Colonel. Suddenly, she remembers that he had some special 'conditions' that the nurse probably shouldn't see. Considering the situation, she was barely collected enough to triage her rescuers, let alone remember. Still, she felt bad that she'd put him on the spot like that and knew she'd have to personally treat his leg ASAP. In fact, she'd like to see everyone in sickbay- considering they lasted long enough to make it there- if it the ship even still existed. "Ok, when we get back to the ship, everyone must report to sickbay."
She pulls herself to her feet and picks up the remains of the med kit- ready to get the hell out of this terrible place.

Zek looked over to Bear when he patted him on the shoulder “Not a bad dance; but I think we’ll sit the next one out…” Zek tried not to chuckle, “Bet Dr. Jackson here is a better dancer, you never did understand the finesse of a fight. Always barreling in like a big ol’ bear.” Zek smiled, it was like old times, almost, usually they were fighting each other, and a little less damaged. Dr. Jackson started scanning him "You're lucky you didn't aggravate your earlier wounds." Zek smiled in agreement “You give me and Zek a good enough pain killer, we’ll race you up the lift.” Zek looked down at his leg, which was useless, and then over to Sam’s, his looked to be about the same. “I’ll win” Zek added with a challenging smirk, at least he had wings; they would help him move easier and faster.
Sabina patches up Zek's wound as quickly. She give him some pain meds, and used some pieces of the biobed and splints his leg. "Alright, Zek, you should be good to go for now." Zek smiled again, “Thank you very much ma’am.” “Come on Captain, that’s enough down time flirting with the Good Doctor; on your feet like a good Officer.” [/b]Zek frowned at him, and clamored awkwardly to his feed, his wings helping him balance. “Ok, I think I’m good to go, what’s the plan?”

Nick was not sure what to think of this fish engineer, he got the distinct impression he was not happy about having to work with him, but it was hardly the time for disagreement. Nick helped Bob the best he could, surprised and somewhat impressed by some of the guy's techniques for getting the job done. Although he wasn't sure why he would need a drone's thumb later...
“Be ready, if this works we won’t have the element of surprise for long.” Nick nodded and moved aside a bit so the Colonel and Security Chief could lead point into the room.
They rushed in and chaos ensued. Not knowing Dr. Jackson, her voice did not distract him like the other two, instead he took aim on the first damn drone he laid eyes on and fired. It worked, the drone dropped like a rock to the ground, but he knew he would not be so lucky again. He was proved right as he fired again on another, and it became apparent their shielding had adapted. He was surprised it had not happened sooner given their fray with the guard drones outside the door. Either way, he didn't dwell on it long.
Changing his hold on the rifle, he wielded the thing more like a bat and waited for the next drone to come near enough before taking a forceful swing at his head. Unfortunately, it meant the drone was also close enough to slice Nick's forearm with the blade protruding from one of it's augmented arms. The blow to the head however, knocked it over, though it did kill it. Nick took his opportunity and grabbed hold of the drone from behind and with a quick jerk he snapped it's neck.
Another drone was waiting to pick up where this one left off, and Nick did his best to fend it off with the body of the first drone, using the blade. He was finally able to drive it hard into the chest of the new enemy and both drone bodies slumped to the floor.
He barely had time to think before another drone was on him, assimilation tubules reaching out towards him. It was not looking good at all when a scream of pain from Hugo seemed to stop everything. Nick wasn't sure what was happening but it must have been in their favor because the drone that held him, suddenly dropped him unceremoniously to the floor and went to their injured leader, joining the retreat.
His arm was bloody and in a good amount of pain, but he could tell from the look of the others that he was in better shape. Looked like he got lucky.
Nick retrieved his weapon which he had dropped in the fight and listened as the others discussed how to get off the planet. Species 8472 (he couldn't recall her name at the moment) asked him, "How did you guys get down here, shuttle? Is it still here?"
Nodding, he replied, "Yeah, it's in the hanger, near the surface." He eyed the very injured captain and security chief wondering how they would manage to get up there before the ten minutes the Engineer was proposing to set the self destruct for. "If we can get there in time I can get us off this rock, no question. We couldn't get back to it earlier because the three of us were no match for the guards, but maybe now it will be a little easier..." he motioned to where the drones had retreated. Whatever happened had them preoccupied, he only hoped this was the case across the board and not just with the group they had encountered here. And if nothing else they had more help to get in there.

Location: Outpost, corridor outside the Secured Room
Kael stood outside the room, covering their rear until they had entered, then she turned to get inside with the others and noticed with no small amount of surprise that Doctor Jackson was in the room as well. Instinct took over a bit and she darted around a drone, heading for the Doctor, when suddenly Colonel Grant was flying through the air and landed directly on top of Sabina, knocking them both off on the floor. Looking up he met eyes with Kael and said, "Get Doctor Jackson out of here!"
She gave a quick nod to affirm she understood and with that the Colonel was back into the fight. Kael took hold of Sabina's arm intending to pull her from the room, but the woman seemed too absorbed in the bedlam in front of her. A drone was approach from the left, apparently unnoticed by Sabina. Glancing around frantically, Kael spied a laser scalpel on the table and snatched it up. She released Dr. Jackson's arm and ducked as the drone reached out to get a hold of her. Her short stature certainly had it's benefits at times. Straightening back up on the other side of the drone's outstretched arms, she slit the drones throat with the scalpel.
Something was wrong with the Borg who appeared about to kill Colonel Grant and to her shock, the whole group of drones fell back. She wasn't sure why it surprised her so much anymore, she should have become used to them doing things out of the ordinary for Borg. Grant ordered her to try to download their database, so she grabbed the nearest data padd and moved to a console. If it had not been for the fact that whoever had been using this console already had access to the sensitive security data, she wasn't sure she could have gotten it so quickly, but as it stood, it only took a few moments before she had uplinked the padd and dumped everything she could on to it.
