Full Name: Fiona Grace Fiacha
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Physical Appearance
Fiona is tiny at five feet tall. She has very fair skin and very light blue eyes. Her hair is light blond and very curly, and when it’s loose it’s long enough for her to sit on it, although she often twists it back into a ponytail or a bun. Fiona has very quick, almost birdlike movements, and usually has a dreamy half-smile on her face. She is profoundly deaf but hears through the assistance of implanted electrodes in her head that are wired to behind-the-ear devices and a processor she wears clipped to her waistband. Fiona likes to wear comfortable clothing and is the first to admit that she knows nothing about fashion styles, so she is often seen in eccentric, seemingly mismatched ensembles. 95% of the time, she has a book or two, or a screen-reader, in hand.
Fiona wears one of these behind each ear. The disc is connected to the magnetized side of the implanted electrodes in her head. Usually they're invisible in the midst of all her hair.
Rank/Profession/Title: Student, Adventurer, Dreamer
Character Background/History
Fiona is the daughter of two absent-minded, fiercely academic professors from one of those rich Core planets. Fiona grew up in the Core’s university system, spending most of her childhood in libraries or at lectures. She was found to be deaf at two years of age and had the implants put in four months later. She has an IQ off the charts but very few close friends or confidantes; it isn’t easy to befriend her due to her eccentricity and intelligence. Fiona was accepted into an early-studies program at a Core university but instead of doing the expected, she decided she would rather see the ‘verse. Her parents think she’s still at the university; Fiona believes she’s getting a better education outside a learning institution’s walls and so far has had no experiences to convince her otherwise.
Character Attributes
Extremely intelligent and occasionally a bit of a know-it-all. Loves all kinds of puzzles. Fiercely loyal. Usually happy, usually caught up in her own thoughts; can seem as though she’s in a dream-world sometimes. Loves experimenting with anything at her disposal (ex. food, numbers, musical instruments, weapons, small machinery, chemicals, etc.). Fascinated by books, music, numbers, scientific theories, languages, birds and animals, stars, geography, history, words, and the realm of fantasy. Creative and spontaneous, if a bit – okay, a lot – eccentric. Can’t shoot a gun but would be a crack “shot†with a frying pan or similar cooking implement.
Character Abilities
Lip-reads, so well that most people don’t realize she’s deaf until they see the implants. Eidetic memory. Speaks a variety of languages and can lie in most of them.
Character Flaws
Profoundly deaf and dependent on either lip-reading or her cochlear implants. Dreamy, sometimes enough to miss what’s right in front of her. Couldn’t shoot the broad side of a barn if her life depended on it.
