Main Story; Chapter #1; "I'm sick of dying…" Part 2

* Cold Harbor Story / Action *

The CRV Experiment, in all it’s secrecy and protection based intent, was having about as hard and horrible a start as any military gambit in history. With the sole intention of protecting the Federation’s interest, both public and secret, and by extension it’s citizenry and ideals, The CRV Fleet has suffered casualties in both ships and manpower at the cost of 70% in the two month’s it’s been in operation. The CRV Fleet itself containing only 4 remaining ships; The Imperium (Fleet’s Flagship and home to the Director-General), The USS Cold Harbor (Excelsior Refit; Battleship), The USS Hawkeye (Defiant Refit; Heavy Escort), The USS Geminon (Norway Class; Destroyer) and The USS Philadelphia (Nebula Class; Heavy Cruiser retrofitted for R&D tasks).

The Cold Harbor, with it’s recent battle honors against The Borg Experiment Uprising and The Almata’n Campaign (and the CRV Fleet as a whole bloodied and demoralized), had received orders for a ‘shake-down-and-battle-readiness-cruise’ along an interior system of the Federation; out of the open view of the ‘public’, but cozy enough to where there shouldn’t be any real ‘shooting’ going on for a bit. The Ship herself needed heavy repair from the previous missions, and her crew needed a moral boost; her senior officers just as badly.

It is during this time, in conjunction with The Philadelphia, that The Cold Harbor runs drill after drill, and works on repairs, while circling an uninhabited asteroid belt. Mean while The Institute sends a ship for crew and supply replenishment.

Admin Notes - with the recent resigning of Amber. I have created a new thread to clean out the SL and bring back the order. Will will continue as plan and focus more in our character development. Allow new and old characters to properly come aboard or disembark.

I have missed simming in a Star Trek theme and lets try to get back in to the game!

"Welcome aboard Master Chief" a young yeoman manning the controls spoke

"Thank you. Now which way to ten forward, and before you ask yes I have a drinking problem, there is never anything strong enough and thats a problem" the chief was an unconventinal man to say the least, he preffered a dirty dingy canvas sack to carry arround his meger belongings rather than more conventional means.

the yeoman was at a loss for words

"Dont stress over it son i brought my own" HE burst into laughter as if he was the funniest man alive pulling out a flask and taking a swig just to watch the yeomans face. "See ya arround kid" leaving and still laughing.

after traveling the decks for a while observing the crew and memorizing the halls he stopped at a pair of legs sticking out of a consule in enginering. "Pardon , I do appologiese for bothering you but may i ask were i can find the captain, and before you say it yes i looked on the bridge and no i aint askin that damndable computer for nothin."

A beautiful woman slid out from under the table causing Kitsune it take a step back

"My god I am surely dead and your here to reap my soul"

she laughed

"I do appologiese mrs I dont mean to offened but I do mean to stare so i beg your forgiveness in advance"

she chuckled somemore

"Names Christopher Lee Kitsune, pleasure to meet you ma'am"

"Jennifer , jennifer moore and as for the captain you might try the XO" she pointed over his shoulder at which he turned slightly cought a glimps of the xo then turned back to her

"Well Mrs Moore if I may be so bold but I do think I am in love, If you would do me the honor of a drink later I surely would be indebted to you."

she laughed a lighter laugh "We'll see sailor in the mean time I got work to do so if you will excuse me."

"You dont ever need to be excused by me ma'am it has been and always will be my pleasure." he noded a thanks and turned to walk over to the xo as happy as the galaxy is wide.

"Beggin your pardon sir, Master CHief reporting for assighnment" he adressed the xo from behind in an at attention stance.

location - engineering

[Lt. Commander Surok]

Location: USS Saber, Transport Vessel

"...Yes, Admiral. I understand my orders. Surok out."

There, he stood, the chair beneath him making a brushing noise against the carpet as it was pushed backwards by his knees. He glanced at the stacks of PADDs, each holding the latest systems report for the Cold Harbor. There were five stacks, two or three PADDs in each stack. EPS Grid, Warp Core, Impulse Drive, Nacelle, and Tactical Arrays.

A slight moment of annoyance crosses his face, before blending back into his stoic features. If one were to blink, they would have missed it, had anyone been with him. Turning from the desk, he moved towards a table near the entrance of the room, which held upon it a grey bag. Opening it, he reached inside, removing another PADD. Turning it on, he glanced at the window, notating in his mind that yes, the frigate was still at warp.

"Computer, what is the current estimated rendezvous time with the Cold Harbor?"

The computer chirped, and responded "Estimated time of arrive at the coordinates of the Cold Harbor: 16 minutes."

Surok moved to a chair beside his bed, sitting. He pressed a button on the PADD he held, and pressed a key on the screen.

"Begin Personal Log."

Pausing for a moment, as if collecting his thoughts, he began to speak.

"Personal Log, Stardate 66043.4. We are nearing the rendezvous coordinates with the Cold Harbor, where I shall be taking over as Chief Engineer. It has been nearly seven years since I last oversaw an engineering department, and nearly 40 years since I've even worked with the technologies aboard a Excelsior Class vessel. One must wonder why such a ship is even in service after all of these years." He paused yet again, glancing down at the PADD.

"The Cold Harbor has seen extensive battle damage as of recent, and I must admit, the repair lists are extensive and, dare I say, almost daunting. It makes me wonder if I will have any time to even commit to the duty requested by Admiral Presscott. Alas, I will of course make time."

Standing again, he crossed his arms as he turned to look out the single window of the room, still holding the PADD between his right index finger and thumb.

"I have compiled, and evaluated the entirety of damages as transmitted from the Cold Harbor, and expect to reassign most of my engineering crews to 12 hour shifts to complete repairs."

He then raised his finger to his chin, as if thinking again.

"On a personal note, I have sent word to my father on Vulcan that I shall not be able to attend his retirement ceremony from the Vulcan Science Academy. I am certain that he will find the reasoning for my cancellation satisfactory, even though he still tends to show dissatisfaction that I did not follow in his steps. One would think that he would have moved past our argument by now. As illogical as it is, I suspect he will have some sort of snide quip regarding my duties... You would think nearly 60 years later he would move on."

Pausing for the final time, he turned again towards the desk, walking there and setting down his PADD.

"I am unsure how I will react to my new Commanding and Executive Officers, however, I plan to do my duty. After reading up on Colonel Grant, I have to think that if such a revered engineering mind like Admiral Harsting held him in such fine light, that he will be a good commanding officer. However, our Executive Officer... Of her I am unsure... End Log"

He then walked to the bag laying near the door, and, grasping the handle, lifted it. Nearly weightless without all of the PADDs inside, he then moved to the desk. Placing the PADDs inside of the bag, he pressed a button on the computers screen.

"Computer, upon rendezvous with the Cold Harbor, transfer all of my personal and duty logs and files to the Cold Harbor's computer core. Re-Encrypt all files for my eyes only, Sigma Ten clearance, Authorization Surok, Gamma 5-3 Baker."

The computer worked for a moment, and then confirmed the command. "All Personal Files and Logs will be Transferred to the Cold Harbor upon arrival with intended instructions."

Just then, the commline chirped, the Operations Officer coming over the comm.
"Attention all Cold Harbor transfers. We will be reaching the rendezvous coordinates in five minutes. Please make your way to your designated shuttle or transporter room. Corsen out."

Samek zipped the bag, and moved the strap over his shoulder. Moving towards the door, he stopped, glancing back at the room, as if ensuring he did not forget anything. The bed, perfectly made. All chairs and tables, devoid of any personal effects. He turned then, exiting the room, out into the hallway.

Two ensigns passed him by as he stepped out, one saying "Excuse me, sir." as she scooted by to avoid colliding with him. Taking a step back, he nodded politely, as the young lady moved past. He was not used to the confined nature of smaller vessels anymore. The turned the opposite direction, heading towards the turbolift nearly 10 meters down the passage. Pressing the button by the door, he waited for about five seconds before the Turbolift opened. Stepping inside, he stated "Deck 3, Section 2."

About 15 seconds later, he stepped out of the turbolift, and started down the hallway , and then walked through the double doors. The ceiling vibrated slightly as the vessel dropped out of warp. Glancing up, he quirked a brow, the transporter chief letting out a chuckle.

"I could have fixed that a long time ago, sir. I just find it comforting to know when we go in and out of warp without having to look at a display."

Surok looked at the chief, his brow still raised slightly. The man couldn't have been over 22. "I am assuming that your transporter is maintained better than your bulkheads, Ensign?"

A startled look came across the young mans face. "No--- I mean yes sir. Finest transporter on this ship, sir."

Surok almost smirked on the inside. It had been a long time since he had dealt with a fresh from the academy ensign, as this young man gave the impression of being. "Relax, Ensign. Dare I say, I was joking. Please prepare to transport me to the Cold Harbor's Transporter Room."

Stepping aboard into the Transport Chamber, he nodded to the Ensign. "Energize"

At that, the ensign began the dematerialization process. Moments later, Surok appeared on the Cold Harbor's transporter pad, he then glanced about...

Status – 1st 18 hours being on board the USS Cold Harbor

It was one of those days that you knew that this moment isn’t going to turn out well. Miranda just left Colonel Grant’s sight and head to Main Engineering as Sam ordered. She didn’t have much of an opinion of him at the moment, just his an ordinary man and an officer of the same group she’s in. Well, not entirely as she represented the interest of ‘The Institute’. Knowing well that the Colonel had little regard of them.

Miranda was cut from the same cloth as the Colonel but not that evident. Physically she wore ‘The Institute’s’ uniform, all black with a simple line symbol on the right upper chest. “Main Engineering” As she stated when she entered the Turbo Lift. Moments past and she had arrived. The Cold Harbor was an old ship; she didn’t have much an opinion about her. Just that this thing had a lot of work to get it to even stay together.

The expression that she gave was serious to almost stoic. It revealed a hardness that was apparent to everyone. It was intimidating to even the most confident. Miranda walked up to the Warp core thinking that a real Chief Engineer would be arriving soon, to replace ‘Acting’ Chief Murkeye. The ‘man’ if that was a proper description. Was old, as old as this ship was and they both complimented each other perfectly. Ruminating on the thought a voice approached her from aft. When the man dropped his grungy bag to make an attention stance. “Beggin your pardon sir, Master Chief reporting for assignment.”

She turned around to meet this accent of a man, “At ease.” Miranda said as she looked strait in his eyes, giving no expression upon her face. , “Master Chief Kitsune? Welcome to the Cold Harbor.” Looking upon him she thought of nothing amazing. Looking at him she saw a man that wasn’t a set mold to the rest of the crew. There was a place for this Christopher Lee Kitsune, as she saw a man that can guide the undisciplined crew to the harshness out here. Her combadge chirped, “XO to Transporter Room Two”.

She shake her head and started to walk away, “Master Chief would you accompany me? We will get started. You have time later to settle in.” Miranda made her way out of Main Engineering to the corridor to a Turbo Lift. “Master Chief? What do you know of this ship? And her mission? Have you been briefed of why you were chosen to be apart of our crew?” Wanted to know if this man was prepared for the trials that this ship would take him through. When he responded to him she would answer and state, “Your Security team is composed both of regular Starfleet issue personnel, you will have to teach them to how you are a custom to. We also have Marines on board; you will have to coordinate with Sergeant Major Lau Ahn-Chi. .” (Use her as NPC till the Simmer decides to chime in. Has not contacted me if she is returning.) “Small woman but don’t under estimate her.”

They left the lift and down to the transporter room. Just as the entered before them was a Vulcan. Just in time the Second Officer and Chief Engineer arrived. Miranda didn’t know him but from his records she saw that he worked with her father. “I hope my father didn’t send you to look after me.” Saying in a sarcastic, however, serious approach. If you didn’t know her you’d think she’s part Vulcan. “Welcome Lieutenant Commander Surok to the Cold Harbor.” Miranda gestured to Kitsune, “This is our Third Officer Master Chief Kitsune. He will serve as our Chief Security officer. Now we will all walk to the Colonel’s ready room.” As she pointed towards the doors. As they walked out to the corridor and back to the Turbo Lift. “Lieutenant Commander Surok, we will get started now and you’d have time later to settle in. As you see that the ship is in great deal of repair. The Colonel is feeling under the weather, which was the reason he wasn’t with me to greet you. I follow a strict order and I expect all of you to adjust your crews accordingly.” As she stated to both Kitsune and Surok.

Just as they entered the Command Deck and walked a crossed to the Ready Room. The Lieutenant Colonel, Miranda chimed the door and heard nothing she override the door commands to find that Colonel Grant was slumped over his desk. Being from ‘The Institute’ she knew enough to check Sam. She immediately called Infirmary, “Medical emergency Deck one, Ready Room. Colonel Grant is unconscious and not responding to anything. ” Colonel Grant was site-to-site transport to the Infirmary.

There in the Ready Room the three were left looking upon one another with uncertainty. “For the moment put the ship on alert Master Chief Kitsune. While the Colonel is in the Infirmary, I will be acting CO and you, Lieutenant Commander Surok will have to put your engineering repairs on hold and you will act as acting XO.” She addressed Christopher Lee Kitsune, “I will leave you to your duties. Lieutenant Commander you will come with me to the Infirmary.”

Upon arriving at Sickbay they have concluded that the Colonel is in a Coma. Reasons found that his brain was stimulated by an telepathic encounter. As Dr. Jackson stated that the Colonel doesn’t respond well to telepathic means. Further analyst by Dr. Jackson provided that it had a Drak neural pattern. Miranda tap her combadge, “Master Chief and Sergeant Major; I need you both to detain all the following individuals to the Brig. The 1st Lieutenant Jessica Katrina Benson Two Dawns, 2nd Lieutenant Kael Giral’I, Herau é'lyria Vél’Kü Jöcqüah' and Ambassador Anu Lay'Nah Hathaway.” She turned over to Surok, “I don’t know what’s going on this ship but from the logs that these Drak needs to be dealt with.” She said thinking to her self and out loud.

While the said people are to gather those to the Brig they would likely not know how Ambassador Anu Lay'Nah Hathaway would respond. To Miranda she has the other Drak, Ann’Knox in mind as this new Drak looks just like Colonel’s lover. Where they would under estimate the Drak and may or may not encounter difficulty detaining her.

Surok stepped off of the Transporter Pad, nodding to the transporter chief. Adjusting the bag on his shoulder, he glanced towards the doors to the transporter room, two people stepped in. One he recognized immediately as Miranda Presscott-Shaw.

"I hope my father didn’t send you to look after me." The woman stated with sarcastic undertones. Quirking a brow at her.

"I would hope that my credentials would, of course, qualify me as more than just a baby sitter to an admiral's daughter." He smirked slightly. He then added on, more an afterthought "...sir."

"Welcome Lieutenant Commander Surok to the Cold Harbor." Miranda gestured to Kitsune, "This is our Third Officer Master Chief Kitsune. He will serve as our Chief Security officer. Now we will all walk to the Colonel’s ready room."

As she pointed towards the doors. As they walked out to the corridor and back to the Turbo Lift.
"Lieutenant Commander Surok, we will get started now and you’d have time later to settle in. As you see that the ship is in great deal of disrepair. The Colonel is feeling under the weather, which was the reason he wasn’t with me to greet you. I follow a strict order and I expect all of you to adjust your crews accordingly."

As they entered the Turbolift, and it started towards the Command Deck, he began to speak. "I have already reviewed the engineering rosters and have prepared written orders to be allocated to my crew members." He glanced over at Miranda. "Though I am confident that we will be able to get the Cold Harbor under way & battle ready, I would recommend returning to a Starbase. Of course, we can discuss this later in conference with the Colonel."

He stepped off the Turbolift with the other two and turned towards the Ready Room. He paused, for a moment, glancing over the bridge, almost as if remembering. He then turned, nearly running into Miranda, as the Ready Room hadn't opened. After she overrode the door, Samek strode into the room, around Grant's side. Observing Miranda then watching her have him teleported to the Infirmary.

“For the moment put the ship on alert Master Chief Kitsune. While the Colonel is in the Infirmary, I will be acting CO and you, Lieutenant Commander Surok will have to put your engineering repairs on hold and you will act as acting XO.” She addressed Christopher Lee Kitsune, “I will leave you to your duties. Lieutenant Commander you will come with me to the Infirmary.”

Surok nodded, as he started off with Miranda towards the Turbolift. "I will notify my engineering crews to begin repairs without me as soon as we are done in the infirmary."

Arriving in the infirmary with the Colonel, he conferred with the doctor and Miranda. Upon the conclusion of the round up order, as he was leaving the sick bay, he tapped his badge.

"All Department Heads, this is Commander Surok. Please prepare and report readiness reports to me within the hour."

He then looked at the Colonel, them both walking out of the Infirmary, heading towards the brig. "I have not been briefed on these Drak on the level required for Command. What exactly are we dealing with here, and why would one of our crew have attacked Colonel Grant?"


Location: Enroute to Brig

When they were in Transporter Room Two, Miranda heard Lieutenant Commander Surok’s response, which was very much Vulcan. However, the smirk that followed wasn’t, thinking that her job was going to get better or likely worst. A Vulcan with a sense of humor let alone that laughs is a fearful thought. When they had continued to the Turbo Lift, Surok answered in response to her instructions, "I have already reviewed the engineering rosters and have prepared written orders to be allocated to my crew members." Miranda stood facing the lift doors. "Though I am confident that we will be able to get the Cold Harbor under way & battle ready, I would recommend returning to a Starbase. Of course, we can discuss this later in conference with the Colonel."

“The Starbase isn’t necessary, however, I know what your getting at. The Director General of the CRV has ordered us to remain in this system.” Its not in Miranda’s character to questions orders, she would follow it to the letter. However, if her superior officer was incapacitated as this case. She would do what is needed to get the mission done. She was one hard cookie and likely it was baked in a star. “Perhaps we can bring the Starbase to us. I have two in mind but I’m sure that the CRV’s mobile Starbase, the USS Mechanicum wouldn’t make it in time.” She found that the CRV was crudely assembled and its shows. Most of the fleet is scattered to just only a few ships and those ship are old. “I will send a signal to the USS Vengeance…..”

After finding the Colonel and having him transported to the Infirmary. Miranda’s mind was filled with so much other new troubles. She feared it would distract her from her reasons of being here. Two things were important to her, one was duty and the other was a personal grudge. Upon leaving the Sickbay with Surok he inquired about the ‘Drak’, "I have not been briefed on these Drak on the level required for Command. What exactly are we dealing with here, and why would one of our crew have attacked Colonel Grant?" Nearly forgetting that the ‘Drak’ was a classified need to know topic. Even she was left in the dark by CRV but luckily, she doesn’t get Intel by them. She stopped in the middle of the corridor, had a serious look and leaned slightly forward. “What is it do you know of the Drak?”

Surok stopped, now slightly ahead of her due to the abrupt nature of her stop, turning around nearly 130 degrees to face her. Cocking his head ever so slightly, he stated. "Admittedly not much. I know of their existence, and know we have a few crew members affiliated with the Drak. Other than that, all information at my clearance level was rejected since I was not yet integrated into these forces."

She knew a lot more then the CRV did and wasn’t ordered to affirm. It was difficult to outline the facts to Surok and it was more harder to be the only one to know. “The Drak is a force that we know bits and pieces. They come and go like the Q. They have abilities that is hard to explain. Many are seen by this crew and only once before on the USS Terrasect at least those who lived to tell the tail.” Where this was the main reason why ‘The Institute’ has an close eye of Colonel Grant. There is something about this man that the Drak has interest for. “I don’t know why but this ship or the Colonel is a magnet for the ‘Drak’.” She stopped and looked around before continuing. “From all my conditioning I am told that the ‘Drak’ are more dangerous then the Dominion or the Borg. The CRV has established an officer exchange. Where there is only one officer here is from the Drak. As the interesting part of it all is that there are two others not affiliated with the Drak but are from the Drak ‘reality’.” Miranda was suspicious of the other crewmembers particularly of Kael and the hybrid, Jessica. She could not help but think they are part of a plan with the Ambassador or rather assassin? “If you agree with me we need to talk to these two crewmen Kael Giral'i and Jessica Benson of Two Dawns.”

Surok gazed at her, seemingly as if he were sizing her up. After a long moment, he spoke aloud. "In this matter, I will defer to your judgment. If the Drak are potentially as serious a threat as you seem to imply, we must figure out what has happened here. I would, definitely recommend following standard Starfleet procedures while questioning them. They may or may not have had a hand in these events." Pausing momentarily, he raised a hand to his face, scratching his cheek momentarily, as if in thought. "If Colonel Grant were to be assassinated, I am sure that it would have been executed in a more complete manner. One being placed into a coma after a psychic attack does not seem a very logical means of assassination, especially if the technology of Drak-kind were as advanced as I have been made to believe. Furthermore, I cannot believe that any commander of a division such as the CRV would allow an officer exchange with a hostile race if those involved were not trusted members of their forces." Lowering his arm once again, his eyes squared off with her. "As such, we should proceed with caution. We should not want to incite any issues with the Drak unless there is tangible and irrefutable evidence suggesting that we should."

Miranda nods to the Lieutenant Commander and agreed about assassination is unlikely, however, ether something personal might be the case or directly extraction of information might have been the cause. Ether way she couldn’t help and think its more. What Surok pointed out made for sense as there was no proof of her suspicions. “Something you may not be aware of that the Colonel has intimate relations with the Drak ambassador. Perhaps a personal attack? As I agree if it was to be done officially I don’t think even this ship would be here.” She gave a sigh and started to walk again, “I take it that you don’t know the CRV and some of its Commanders. They tend to bend rules and out here Lieutenant Commander you’ll see it more then what your accustom to. If Starfleet truly believe in this crew exchange. Why in secret?” She walked in to the lift and waited for Surok to walk in. “So I will leave you to ‘question’ them. As you should know I’m not a Consular or diplomat. By title and with CRV protocols I have been requested from ‘The Institute’ for other talents. If the Starfleet procedure fail to acquire the information I will defer to other means.” She said in a firm tone followed with little to any emotions.

He walked with her once she started towards the turbolift, both of his hands crossing behind his back. A stoic look fell across his face as he listened to her speak. Stepping into the turbolift, he turned to face the door, staring straight ahead. "With all due respect, Colonel, the reason I was posted within the CRV was so I might lend a bit of knowledge and logic to otherwise volatile situations, where certain commanders might bend rules, even when it is not necessary. Having served in Starfleet for nearly 57 years, I have observed many races, and seen so many situations, my experience has already lead me to believe that this appears to be one of those times." Remaining facing the door, he continued. "By my observations so far, I would be forced to believe that if I were not here, and spoken as a sound logical voice, you would have already been preparing to interrogate those people. The suspicions of your conditioning has already lead you to believe that those crew members are the ones who put the Colonel into a coma, when all logic dictates that they have little to no role in this situation."

"As you should know, Starfleet is willing to have officer exchanges with any number of species, as long as it is a mutual arrangement. As all knowing as the CRV and Institute seems to be, they still exist at the behest of certain leaders within the Federation, and this exchange would not have happened without the will of those hard-line bureaucrats and admirals, whether it be public knowledge or not." He paused for one more moment. "I will question them and report my findings to you, Colonel. Please be warned, however... those aforementioned people of power will not be pleased if any advanced interrogation techniques are used against an innocent, be it a Federation Citizen, or Drak Exchange Officer." He glanced sidelong towards her. "May I recommend that you focus your energies on other avenues that may lead to the knowledge we seek while I handle this situation? Such as looking into the one whom was intimately involved with Colonel Grant?"

Combadge chirped, “Both Lieutenants have been escorted to the Brig. The Draks are being located and escorted with additional prudence.” As soon as the combadge went off, he tapped his badge. "Acknowledged. Please make sure they are treated with all comforts, and reinforce they are merely being pulled in for questioning per Starfleet Regulations. Surok out. He tapped his badge again, closing the channel. He then looked to the Colonel for her response.

Miranda turned to her acting XO looking at his features to the shape of his face. From his hair, to how he had it cut. Her eyes followed the shape of his jaw, then to his nose and to his lips. Looking at how his mouth formed each word as he spoke. Miranda return her sights to his stance, observing how he stood. Now listening to the words he was saying, his tone and back to his stance. The amaze that she had about him wasn’t what he was saying or how. It was far from being irritated, more of that he was the first person to ever had the courage to ‘remind’ her of principles that she grew up believing in. Which apparently she had forgotten or has learned to put aside. Perhaps that this ‘pointed ear bastard’, would after all be good for her and the Cold Harbor. Likely if Colonel Grant would ever wake up, Surok would be a good fail safe between them.

“Very well, halt Turbo Lift. Deck Nine.” Miranda leaves Surok in the lift but before exiting she uttered, “It can’t be an exchange program if we didn’t send anyone. Where’s that mutual benefit? A case in point Admiral Dougherty and the Son’a mission failed, however, there were clear lines of benefit. Here with the Drak there are no clear lines.” She let out a bit of classified fact, though Surok couldn’t verify. He’d have to take her word for it. She walked off, tapping her combadge, “Where is the Drak Ambassador?” Two things could occur Surok suggestion was wrong, and Miranda and the Ambassador was a mistake or something else that they didn’t for see.

A Small Backpost

She was putting her things away after she had just had them transferred from her old quarters. She thought about getting ready for her first shift on the bridge when the chime sounded, indicating she had a visitor. Thinking it was her mother or father checking up on her, she called "Come in."

She didn't hear the door open to admit anyone so she continued unpacking. A couple seconds later, she heard the chime again. Must be her mother, she thought, since she did not hear as good as her father Grabfoot. She walked out of the bedroom, into the living room to answer the door. The door slid open, she addressed whom she thought was her mother "The door is op.." She paused as she seen it was not her mother, but a trio of security "Greetings, gentlemen. How can I help you?"

One of the officers spoke up, assuming he is the leader of the trio "By order of the acting captain, I am here to escort you to the brig." He stated in an all business-like tone

Her eyebrows show up as her ears shot back "Excuse me? I just got here. What did I do? Or didn't do?" She added after a moment's thought "I want to know why I am being re-located to the brig.."

Mr. All business replied "Sorry, Lt. I am not at liberty to discuss that at this time. Come with us. We can escort you or drag you."

She looked at Mr. All Business with a defiant look, with a lashing of her tail before she slowly nodded "I will go but there better be a VERY good reason for this."

She stepped out and walked with the security officers down to the brig/detention area. As she stepped into a cell, she heard the force filed being activated. She seen that she is the only one in the cell. She hoped she would not be the only one. Why was she being singled out? Did they find out that she stretched the truth about her oigins.. that she is half drak, instead of being half human?

Illumination in the laboratory were extinguished, the only lights were from small buttons on the consoles. That was enough to see what s/he needed to do. This ship was primitive where s/he had difficulty working with the Starfleet equipment. Many procedures had to do extra steps to even reach a state to conduct Herau’s experiments. There’re abundant amount to species in the database that weren’t known to Herau.

Unexpectedly the doors to the laboratory slid open. The lights from the corridor filled the room and s/he quickly flee from the rays. Although Herau’s skin was covered it was within nature had done it instinctively, as Herau’s kind were nocturnal. Nearly any kind of light would easily burn the skin. The Security had cautiously entered. ‘Lights? Computer lights!?’ Nothing happened and Herau softly spoke, “The lights have been disabled, please don’t hurt me. The lights burns. Please don’t harm me.” Herau’s voice carried from the darkest part of the room. Any who had entered heard and saw nothing and this frightened them.

The Security officers and one Marine held their weapons toward the voice. Abruptly the combadge chirp, “…Please make sure they are treated with all comforts, and reinforce they are merely being pulled in for questioning per Starfleet Regulations. Surok out.”, as a male voice stated. The Marine said, ‘You heard him. Stand down! Ma’am please come out we will not hurt you.’ Herau didn’t quickly respond; remained there for several moments. Until her breath slowed back to close to normal. The Security officers and Marine were quickly startled to find that Herau wasn’t at the floor, though s/he had came off from the ceiling. Lights from the Laboratory start to come on but in flickering pulses, however, never coming on entirely. When s/he stepped out to the corridor the lights in the hallway did the same thing from the lab.

When s/he vacated the laboratory roughly a meter. Lights began to returned to normal. From where Herau stride the power were disrupted only of a meter radius. The interruption gave minor hiccups throughout the Cold Harbor systems, however, nothing to concerning. Although it had made Herau’s escort uneasy. The lift ride to deck 17, especially.

Upon arriving to the said Brig Herau gazed and saw 2 of the Starfleet personnel there before her. A hybrid of sorts and a slave. Nothing upon her thoughts gave any idea for the reason of this. S/he wasn’t fearing of the life just how they would harm while s/he was alive. Torture was worst then death, were Herau would rather die then be harmed.

[Lt. Commander Surok]

Surok listened to the Colonel's words carefully as she stepped off of the turbolift stating “It can’t be an exchange program if we didn’t send anyone. Where’s that mutual benefit? A case in point Admiral Dougherty and the Son’a mission failed, however, there were clear lines of benefit. Here with the Drak there are no clear lines.”

He put his hand out at the door to hold it. Being a Vulcan, or half Vulcan in his case, he felt the need to have the last word, as he found no problem with his logic.

"Sometimes, the mutual benefit of an exchange program may not be as transparent as one might assume. We may very well be the beneficiaries in this situation, seeing as we have the first opportunity to actively observe, and understand these people. Wisdom through observation. We are their hosts, and as such, have much to learn about them." Removing his hand, the turbolift shut, heading to Deck 9 Aft, where the brig was located.

Stepping off he entered the brig. Immediately recognizing the Drak's discomfort with the lighting, he spoke. "Computer, reduce lighting in this compartment to 20% of normal."

The computer dimmed the lights, he glanced over to those being held. Speaking to the three, he bowed his head slightly. "Hopefully this lighting will be more suitable to you." Turning then to the security detail, he stated, "Dismissed." Obviously talking to the security detail, they would step aside and leave.

Raising his eyes to them, he spoke. "I do apologize for this abrupt summons. I am Lt. Commander Surok, acting executive officer." He glanced across those gathered. "I regret our meeting place being in the brig here, and you are by no means under arrest. You have been summoned here because of an event which occurred within the last couple of hours. It appears the captain of this vessel, Colonel Samuel Grant, has been attacked telepathically." He turned his back to them, turning to a console.

His fingers flew over the console with the familiarity of the operating system that very few would have. Especially since the ship was as old as it was. On the wall console in front of them appeared the brain scan of Colonel Grant, and an enlarged segment of the neural disruption.

"We have been lead to believe that his coma was induced by a Drak telepathic signature." He turned again to them, gazing over their faces. "Your summons, therefore, might logically be revealed. Does anyone recognize this signature, or are any of you able to ascertain the origin of this attack?"

While she is still deliberating her current situation, the doors to the detention/brig area opened again and admitted another trio of security, escorting a being that she had never seen before. Perhaps it is one of the species that her father has encountered in his many travels

She stepped back from the force field so the security good could deposit the poor unfortunate soul into the cell but her instincts were telling her to fight, to free herself and to possibly shoot the security officers out the nearest airlock, but then she quelled those impulses thinking that would worsen the situation, whatever situation that may be.

When Security left, she decided to greet her cell companion. "Greetings, I am Jessica Ben.." She paused as the detention/brig area doors opened again, this time admitting a single being. A couple of glances over his form told her two things. That he is a Lt commander and a vulcan, the first point is confirmed as he introduced himself, apologizing for their current detainment, also stating that he is the current and acting First Officer. Her tail lashed as she heard him state that they were not under arrest, pondered for a brief second of interrupting him with a sharp retort but then it didn't look like he took being interrupted too lightly. Well, she didn't like being thrown in the brig, for any reason, but she held her tongue.

She continued to listen to the commander as he revealed that the captain, a Colonel Grant has been attacked telepathically. This surprised her and it shown by the stiffening of her tail. Assuming the Commander is there, telling them this would indicate the attack has crippled Grant to some degree. She briefly wondered how her father would take this news. She knew that her father disliked Grant intensely, but she doubted that he wanted to see the end of his trail ( his death )

She looked on as the commander turned and tapped a few keys on a control board. She turned her attention to the wall monitor that lit up, showing a neural map of a human brain, with an enlarged segment, presumably the damaged area. The commander voiced that the damage/attack had been assumed as a Drak telepathic burst. Her head snapped around to the commander, again surprise etched on her face. How did they find out that she is part drak so quickly? Wait, its only assumed that a drak telepathic signature had done the Colonel in. She had nothing to worry about, her telepathic skills were very limited.

She looked back to the screen again, to study it a moment as the commander asked if she, or the other individual, recognized the neural signature or its origin. She turned back to the commander, with a shake of her head "No, Commander. The only thing I can ascertain is that it did not come from me."

[Herau Vél’Kü é'lyria]

Being brought to the Brig s/he was thrust within the same compartment of the Panthera Eeiauo and the Lo’Ami slave. Circumstances may perhaps have been most horrible, nevertheless better then those beyond the field of energy. Both females stepped back when Herau entered. The slave moved quickly to the opposite wall where she remained far from Herau. The Hybrid was distinctive it spoke to Herau, where s/he was unable to reply. Before another hybrid stood to address them.

S/he could feel the energy coming from the Panthera Eeiauo. The vigor that was brought forth from her reek of Drak. Herau slightly incline towards Jessica, the scent was tasted in the air. The lights in the brig continued to flicker and the field of energy before they did as well. The Vulcan commanded the lights to drop, however, this wasn’t an adequate amount. S/he didn’t answer to Surok just gave a blank look. Her face was enclosed by a cloak, one could only see eyes glowing white.

This creature, Surok dismissed the escorts, one would not find that wise. Herau is confined and vulnerable, s/he hadn’t taken this treatment to well. Began to move back against the wall when the Vulcan presented the data and addressed his query. After the Panthera Eeiauo held her innocents, Herau started to scale the wall. Back against the wall Herau’s hand on the surface. Then the other followed by lifting off the ground and up on to the ceiling. Disruption to the power grid strengthen compared to a few flickers. The force field would turn on and off in sequence of random flashes. Followed with the lights and any other system with a radius of six meters.

“E’mac. Teo’va mar’ric ta mvori’i. Mus’ka. Val mar’nouck ta, Vorii. Ka’loush’ka ta vorii.” Not even the Federation’s universal translator could interpret. Only one other in the Brig that could understand and she was Kael but she's in a like cataleptic state.

Kitsune stood outside the brig and lit a rolled piece of paper which was instantly hit with halon gas to supress the fire. "Ah yes just as it was back then good old federation saefty." dropping the paper out of his lips and into a hand. "guess its gum for now on." Pulling out a small tube and sliding out two pairs of white sticks and ate them. This was certainly starting out to be an assignment he didnt want. Telepaths, assasination attepmpts, no smoking....ehat else could he look forward too. He hadnt even had a full day on board and he gets such a monumental case dumped in his lap. "Give me those fu**ing borg anyday." he then began to think of all he had seen on the ship the corridoors the turbo lifts and jeffries tubes, commiting them to memory and on how to use them.

[Anu Lay'Nah Hathaway]

An’u had went back to the mess hall from after talking with Samuel…she found him very arrogant and that he had no idea who and what he was dealing with. Her mother may have had romantic relations with him but that fact won’t give him special treatment. Where that has nothing to do with the Drak being in Federation space and her reasons of showing up as she has.

He gave her quarters but what would she do in a small chamber? Let alone that had a boring view…of what? Stars, that looked all the same…when you seen one star pattern they all looked the same. So An’u returned to the Pub…as that was the only other place she knew she could go without Samuel’s Bridman stopping her. Plus it wasn’t as boring as the places she has already been at. An’u found the Colonel’s ship to be small and old. The Ttar’Veck, vessel in Drak…was barely keeping it self together. Which mirrored how she saw Samuel being and his ignorant views of the Drak. Its now clear that her mother Cat’ty had shielded the truth to him…to a point that his expecting the Drak to surrender to the Federation. It was clear that he wasn’t the man to talk terms.

She entered the pub that they called a mess hall…she sat at the bar and order any and every drink that they offered. After about thirty minutes or so security team of six came. Three on each side and followed by four marines…included Sergeant Major Lau Ahn-Chi. “Ambassador Ann’Knox ‘acting CO’ is asking you to for questioning.” An’u gave an odd stare at them and asked them to, “That so? How about you lads take a drink with me instead? Lets have a go, yeah?”

She fiddled a bit on her neck and Cold Harbor crewmen in the mess hall…started to put them their weapons down or return them to their holsters. The small woman Sergeant Major Lau Ahn-Chi offered An’u a drink and An’u said, “Cheers! That’s more like it, yeah.” This was a bit risky to show her abilities so soon but it was this or she would have had killed everyone in the room. She be only seventeen but her maturity for duty was more developed then everyone would have pondered. An’u had the intuitive knowledge of her parents and what ever her parents and their parents knew. An advantage that she had over everyone of the ship and more.

An’u came here for a reason and her mission would always be followed through. She will not allow anything to getting in her way…An’u planned for any of the senior staff to notice that she isn’t in the brig and she expected Samuel to come him self or his XO. An’u demanded that he would take her to someone to talk about the terms she came here for or she will act more of how a Drak would do things. Where the respect she was trying to give would stop and she would start to exclude all other diplomatic pleasantries aside.
