Holodeck 001
A place where simmers can come run any holographical programs, etc...
(Note: These posts are 'out of sync' with the timeline of the Main Story. Thus, if in the Main Story the Starship is being boarded or under attack, on these boards it's just a normal day. Remember - the Cold Harbor is a living ship, so many things can occur at once; please Simm freely!)

Kael called up a program and the computer complied with a beep, indicating it was ready for her. She stepped forward and smiled as the doors opened to reveal an idyllic beach setting. She had spent a short time on the island of Maui and it had been some of the most relaxing time she had ever spent on Earth. Whenever she felt like she needed to clear her head, she either came here or to Shephelah for worship. This time it felt like she need a little Maui sunshine to clear the cobwebs from her brain.
Her loose garments swished around her bare feet as she entered the holodeck. She felt the sand beneath her feet closed her eyes and smiled as she just soaked up the rays of the sun. Even though it wasn't real, it felt real enough to lift her mood. Finally she walked farther down the beach, closer to the shoreline and looked in either direction. It was an isolated little location with no tourists or anyone in sight. Perfect for a little swimming and sunbathing. Kael spread her beach towel on the ground and shed her clothes down to the swimsuit she wore underneath.
As she entered the water, it was cold enough to take her a moment to adjust to it, but after the initial shock it felt fine and she dove under water. Coming back up to the surface she floated face up for a bit, eyes closed, enjoying the water and sun and avoiding thinking about everything that had just happened. Finally she swam back to shore and stretched out on her stomach on her beach towel. She could almost feel the stress melting off of her as she lay there. Finally she allowed herself to think back over the conversation with the Colonel.
When she had been offered this position she had been surprised. One of her instructors had advised her not to take it, "Scientists are never appreciated on a warship. You could be doing research on some of Starfleet's top projects!" he had warned. but she had not listened. Somehow, sitting at a research station or staying safe in San Fransisco didn't appeal to her. Perhaps it was because she was rescued by a warship. Or maybe she just wanted to be able to discover new things. She wasn't really sure why she had taken the assignment, but she had. And even though she still did not feel completely convinced about being a right fit for the ship, she did not want to be a quitter.
Propping herself up on her elbows she looked out at the ocean as the waves rolled in and out methodically. It always happened and could always be counted on to continue happening. It was consistent and reliable. She knew she needed to be the same way. If Kael decided to stay, she knew she would never again entertain the idea of reassignment. The question was, did she still feel like this was the best place for her...

This vessel was a slightly better not of aptitude but size, from the ‘other’ Cold Harbor. It was a step backwards but he didn’t have much care for the ships but those who were on it. It may have been diminutive for his taste like being on a dinghy contrasted to a oil tanker. Though he shouldn’t expect too much from these people. For instance this Master Medical officer Jackson, governed a division of health, which by the way was a peculiar occurrence. She was ordinary and small but kept a deportment like a White Coat. Nothing close to himself; had no excitement or color. Saw only a whitish grey about her, if she had any color it was faint.
In such a stroll of diminished space finding the settings to having excessive lighting. The difficulty of sight within an illumination of this was barely excused. For the moment he filled his curiosity by peering to each available door, which lead him to the Holodeck. Entering without cause or consent; he found himself in an ever brighter settings.
In the corner of Kael’s slice of heavenly sun and warmth. There was a storm brewing, it appeared to be a flat white grey cloud. However mysteriously just enclosing half of the scenery. The beach was shaded up to a distance and of a foot from Kael. Like a invisible line was drawn, the storm haze didn’t ensue beyond this. As if the look of the storm was to catch the attention. Mellifluously the clouds above had soften and within that side, light snow flakes fell upon the sand.
In the distances a figure came forth towards her. It has a white lab like coat slightly like a dress where it was made from thick, heavy materials. Differing from Kael’s attire and the movement gave an unnatural feel. Inconclusive of a gender the figure seem to approach her like matching patterns of the snow. Kael could immediately feel the temperature begin to drop as the "storm" started brewing. A breeze stirred across her bare skin and she lifted her head to look in the direction of the intrusion. She shaded her eyes and watched as snow flakes began to drift to the ground and the cloudy haze continued to advance until it was but a foot from her. Sitting up, she retrieved her garment and puled it around her shoulders to both keep her warm as well as cover her somewhat bared form a bit more.
A figure seemed to emerge from the recesses as it approached the invisible barrier between the world of sunshine and the storm clouds. They seemed to be studying her like she might study an experiment in a controlled environment.
"Who are you?" she spoke in a controlled and even tone, not feeling fear of this odd figure, but rather a bit put off by the intrusion into her world. She eyed them as quizzically as they seemed to be studying her as she waited for their response.
